These are the passages that will be focused on during this brief study.
Colossians 1:5, 2:10 & 14-15
Colossians 1:5, 2:10 & 14-15
Colossians 1:5 the hope which is laid up for you in heaven
In life we tend to put our hope is all sorts of things and without fail, we are disappointed every time.
• We find a good job…hoping that it will supply all of our financial needs
• We get married…hoping that it will sustain all of our physical and emotional needs
• We befriend others…hoping that they too will fill needs that we have
These are all good things and things to be desired as long as we understand that our hope is in heaven and nothing that we do on earth will ever give us that kind of hope. There is no greater love than that which abides in heaven! When these earthly relationships fail us then we tend to somehow blame God for it…how could we? We say things like, Wow God, don’t you love me? Why do you make me suffer so much? It’s not Him! We need to learn to discern who is doing what in our lives. Before we blame God or the enemy, we must turn inward to see if indeed we ourselves are the culprit. God has given us hope; hope that is divine and sure…hope that does not fail. It cannot be found in earthen vessels, it comes from above.

Colossians 2:10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power
What a profound statement; we (you and I) are COMPLETE in Him!
Then why do we feel so incomplete?
A statement that I use often is that I am so undone and incomplete…well, I have just been convicted by the Holy Spirit. Never again will I say those words. The fact is, we are complete, the word of God makes this clear and we couldn’t interpret this statement any other way. All that we need, all that we are, all that we have is complete in Him! There are times when we do not feel this way…yes…but we cannot live by feelings and emotions. We MUST live by faith and whatever God has deemed to be true concerning us is truth. The word also says here that He is even the head of all principality and power, meaning that even demons are subject to Him. So if He has complete control over that which we believe is more powerful than us, surely, He has complete authority over us as well.

Take heart beloved, we are complete, whole, nothing lacking in Him.
We must begin to live and walk as such.
Colossians 2:14-15We must begin to live and walk as such.
14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.
Need I say more?
The law which was death to us has been wiped out meaning that it has no power of death over us any longer. In Old Testament times if the law (Commandments) was broken, it meant death. Jesus came to loose us from this because God knew in His infinite wisdom that we as humans could not keep the law to the full letter. Jesus became our sacrifice; the Blood Offering that freed us from the punishment of death. Does that mean that we can just freely do what we want…NO! It means that we have grace, mercy and forgiveness when we do what is displeasing in God’s sight and that He won’t just strike us down because we sin. It was nailed to the cross! Glory to God! All that would come against us is (not will be), is disarmed; disengaged; dismantled! No weapons formed against us will ever prosper. They will be formed yes…but they will never succeed in their attacks, unless, we allow them to. Jesus’ death on the cross gave us complete VICTORY! If we live as non-victorious people, that is of our own choosing, not God’s divine design.

Do you trust God? Do you really believe all that He says? If you do then begin to take Him at His word…change the way you speak about yourself and your situations. Know that you know who you are in Christ Jesus and what His sacrifice on the cross afforded you. The enemy can only do what he is allowed to do. God can give him permission to test you but God has complete control over those tests and will keep you. On the other hand you can allow the enemy to test you and dominate over you and in that instance; you may find yourself in a bad situation.
You are complete beloved and God’s has your best interest at heart!
